Spot.us, a new site that supports crowd-funded journalism, has just launched. You can start a story or fund a story by pledging a certain amount.
Story pitched this week: How safe are San Francisco Bay beaches and water a year after the Cosco Busan oil spill? $200 has been raised toward an $800 goal.
Meantime, celeb blogger and Time correspondent Ana Marie Cox (the former Wonkette) has raised $10,000 to keep her covering John McCain’s campaign.
JD Lasica, founder of Inside Social Media, is also a fiction author and the co-founder of the cruise discovery engine Cruiseable. See his About page, contact JD or follow him on Twitter.
Not 100% launched – waiting until after the election to really make a hoot about it.
But thanks for noticing. You sure are on top of things J.D.
