I arrived in Portland, Oregon, this afternoon for tomorrow’s Podcast Hotel conference. I’ve always wanted to visit Portland, and somehow it’s never happened until today. Eric Rice picked me up at the airport and gave me a quick tour of the city.
Tonight, a group of us visited a shelter where 1,000 evacuated residents of New Orleans are expected to arrive starting tomorrow. We were referred to a nearby Red Cross center, and a representative there spent 15 minutes with us, speaking about the situation for a podcast that’s supposed to go up later tonight.
In the morning I’ll be talking about “Darknet” and Ourmedia in front of a group of musicians, podcasters, students and geeks. Should be a lot of fun.

Be sure to visit the big Powell’s bookshop.
And Lemongrass, a fabulous Thai restaurant, if it’s open.
