Giveaways of health & medical apps from the new Time for Nurses Rewards Contest page.
Last month we launched a new community for nurses, Time for Nurses, on behalf of one of our clients. You’ll recognize the look of the site because it borrows some of the best elements of Socialmedia.biz: a widget showcasing Twitter conversations, a calendar of events, interesting blog posts, a Flickr gallery and a Recent Twitter visitors widget.
Today we launched two initiatives that have interesting social media components:
• A Referrals Program that will pay sums ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 to anyone who connects us to decision-makers inside a hospital, health care facility, medical center or retirement home. Yes, you read that right — sending a simple email intro could get you referral fees up to $20,000, if you introduce us to your contact and the hospital subscribes to OnCall, a state-of-the-art scheduling service that gives nurses more autonomy and saves hospitals up to $72,000 a year per department.
• A Rewards Contest with a weekly drawing of 10 winners who will receive a mobile medical or health app simply for tweeting or posting to Facebook an update about the OnCall free trial, starting today. The contest is open to anyone, not just members of the health care community.
What was instructive to me was how there were so few good, solid, inviting referral or affiliate programs to draw upon. We basically created this from scratch, trying mightily to avoid the cheesy, spammy affiliate models that you see everywhere on the Web. And we were careful to draw ethical lines: If you work for a medical institution, you can’t get a referral fee for introducing us to one of your co-workers.
At the same time, we tried to make both the Rewards Contest and Referral Program as drop-dead simple as possible, with a generous smattering of transparency tossed in.
One thing we’re doing: opening it up for public criticism. If you have any feedback or comments on how either program could be improved, please let us know by leaving a comment. We’re happy to adjust course based on what we hear.
Oh, and if you have any business colleagues, friends or relatives who work in the health field or are nurses, please pass along word about Time for Nurses.
