I took this shot of our 6-year-old, Bobby, tonight at his T-ball game. (Click on it for a larger view. I really liked the composition; used a Nikon D70S.)
I had no idea what to expect when we signed up Bobby for T-ball. It’s truly a pleasure to take in. Tonight we had 7 kids on each team. It works like this:
Every kid gets to bat every inning. Nobody makes an out. It generally takes about seven pitches for the hitter to make contact and put the ball into play. If not, they get out the T-stand and the kid wails away. Watching the kindergarteners run the bases and try to field the ball is the best part. They play only three innings, which takes almost an hour — that’s about all the kids (and parents) can take without getting exhausted. Neither team wins, and nobody keeps score.
Bobby hit the ball twice by swinging (we’ve been practicing) and once on the T-ball stand, but he spends most of the time yakking it up in the field with the other players — Mr. Socialite.
