Just got back from a two-hour talk with Dan Gillmor about journalism and the changing mediaspshere. About 40 folks turned out at the Community Media Center in Palo Alto, CA — not just to hear us but to interact. Fully half of the session involved interaction with audience members, some of whom are well-known in the citizen media space — people like Paul Andrews, Barry Parr, Jeff Schwartz and Lisa Padilla.
It was an enervating evening. One young woman came up to me afterward and said, "That was so exciting and stimulating — it was like I was back in college!"
Lisa has a roundup of the talk on her Information Colony blog. We’ll try to get a video of the event online by late next week.
